It works on volume. A leak adds litres to your consumption that aren't accounted for by normal use. The system spots patterns that don't match your property's established baseline — particularly overnight, when no one should be using water.
Can it distinguish between a leaking pipe and a running tap?
Not definitively — both appear as unusual consumption. That's the point. Any unexpected water usage gets flagged. Whether it's a tap left on or a buried pipe leak, you know about it immediately and can act.
How quickly does the system learn normal patterns?
The baseline builds over the first few days. From day one it is monitoring and will flag extreme anomalies. Within a week it has a reliable usage profile and can detect subtle deviations.
What if I have guests who use more water than normal?
The system can be adjusted for periods of higher expected usage. You can also simply review any alerts in context — an alert during a week with guests is handled differently to an alert when the property is empty.
